New31DC: Day 2 - Silver

Hi guys!  Its Day 2 of the New31DC, and today our theme is silver!  I was loving the mani I came up with for this day, and I hope you like it as well.

As a side note, I was advised by a trusted friend and fellow blogger that my photos may be better displayed at a larger size, so you will see that in this post and all my posts from now on!

I did this ruffian style mani with a silver base, and added some glitter so I could use up another untried.  The polishes I used are China Glaze Icicle, Ciaté Vintage, and Dollish Polish The Many Shades of Mr. Grey.  Icicle is my go-to silver foil, and I used one coat of that as the base for this mani.  I added one coat of Vintage over top, leaving the ruffian gap to show the silver.  Vintage is one of the Ciaté minis that I got in my advent calender, and it is a lovely green tinged gray.

Finally, I put one coat of Mr. Grey over Vintage.  I received Mr. Grey in the scratch and dent bag that I ordered from Llarowe last month.  If you don't know about these, once in a while they will add mystery grab bags with "damaged" polishes in them for a cheaper price... They are $15 and contain at least 3 "polish related items".  They are definitely worth the money, I got two indie polishes and one Brazilian polish.

To be quite honest when I looked up swatches of this color, and looked at it in the bottle, I thought it was quite boring!  It just looked like a plain silver glitter and I was less than impressed.  But once I got it on my nail it was much better.  There are silver glitters, as well as a dark grey gunmetal color, and some black ones.

Then I decided that I wanted to use my MASH Matte Top Coat, because I like the contrast of metallic and matte. (Which you will see again on tomorrow's Gold post!)  Also, because I neglect my matte top coats too much!  Whenever I see someone else mattify a mani I ooh and ahh over it, but I never seem to reach for it myself.

I think in these photos it is sort of hard to see much of a difference from shiny to matte, but I definitely loved these matted.

I love that your pictures are bigger, all though truthfully I mainly view from my phone so I had no idea until I compare the web version of this post to your water marble post. :-) This is so pretty.
