New31DC: Day 15 - Watercolor

Hello dearies!  Here we are on Day 15 of the New31DC, and today's theme is Watercolor.  I was a bit nervous about this day, because I have tried Watercolor nails in the past and they did not work out for me.  This time I practiced with a couple different brushes on a nail wheel and I got the technique down.

I prepped my nails with two coats of OPI Care to Danse?, a lilac tinted white jelly.  I added a thick layer of top coat and let that dry so I didn't melt my base color when I added the acetone wash.

I started with a few dots of China Glaze Electric Beat on each nail, and washed those around with my polish remover and a long fluffy paint brush.  Then I added some China Glaze Aquadelic, and finally, some China Glaze Gothic Lolita.  I think my problem in the past was poor color choice, so I stuck with colors from the same collection to be sure they complimented each other.  (I didn't use any untrieds in this mani though, boo!)

I am very pleased with how these turned out, I am actually still wearing these because I loved them so much!

Let's see how everyone else did on their watercolor nails....

Great job! There is certainly something to be said for practicing on a nail wheel. I do it all the time.
