Hi lovelies! Today's challenge theme is Splatter manis! I have to say, I was pretty excited to try these, because they have been on my to-do list for a while. (I did one with a toothbrush around Halloween but never with a straw.) Now that I've tried them, I don't have plans to do them again any time soon. These were a mess, just like everyone else says, and even though I taped off my nails, clean up was a bitch!
So I took my inspiration from these awesome metallic splatter nails from Nailasaurus, who was actually recreating some that were done by . I wanted to play on these by using some untried colored metallics that I got several months back.
I originally bought these color for stamping, which they do really well. I've used 4 colors from the China Glaze Romantique collection, that was released back in 2009 I believe. The ones I used were China Glaze Harmony, Joy, Cherish, and Adore. I splattered them over a base of two coats of China Glaze Liquid Leather.
Then of course I had to try mattifying these like the ones I had seen originally. I used my MASH Matte Top Coat but I wish I had used my Essie Matte About You. I think I would have liked them better matte if they were all the way matte instead of the satiny texture.
So have you tried a splatter mani? How did you manage your mess and clean up?
I really like the colours that you've used :)
ReplyLove these! The colors you chose for the splatter are so pretty together!

ReplyThese look amazing, will def be using metallics next time I do a splatter x
ReplyOh I think it's gorgeous!! I totally love your colors and the matte is perfect!!! Btw - personally I prefer Butter London Matte Finish top coat.
ReplyAs for cleaning - Danielle suggested to try taping the nails like when doing a water marble. As the queen of water marble I think you should give the splatter another chance ;-)
I love the colors you used. Your cleanup may have been more difficult than normal since you used metallic-y polishes. At least I know I always struggle with cleanup on those polishes.
