Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 8, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Gradient with Color Club Take Wing Collection, Stamp: M57, Finger Paints Black Expressionism
(flash)

Hey guys!!  Today is the last day of the Girly-Girl Challenge. :(  I really enjoyed participating in a challenge, it got me inspired to try new things and I loved seeing other participants' takes on a common theme.  I guess I will have to find another one to do next!

The theme today is Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!  I think animal print is very fun, and I did a sparkly bright rainbow colored gradient for my base.

(flash)

The colors I used for my gradient are all part of the summer collection from Color Club, Take Wing.  The specific colors are Wing Fling, Sparkle and Soar, Daisy Does It, Fly With Me, and Metamorphosis. I will be swatching this collection for you guys in the next week or so, since I couldn't find much info on the collection myself when I looked.

I stamped with Konad M57 and Finger Paints Black Expressionism.

One last time, see what all these other lovely ladies came up with!

Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 7, Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice

Hey guys!  I am a day late with these, because Mr. Sparkles and I went on a little day trip yesterday to check out some Texas wildflowers.  The state flower, Bluebonnets, grow like crazy in huge fields around Texas.  It was so beautiful to see.  We also stopped at the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory while we were in that area, and I knew I wanted to do ice cream nails for my sweet inspired nails!

 (light box)

I have been wanting to try this drip mani for a little while now, so here was my chance!  I like how they turned out, and I will definitely be trying these again with different colors.

 (light box)

For these I used 3 coats of China Glaze Dance Baby, and then added the chocolate drips with OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys.  I just used the regular polish brush to paint the drips, no fancy nail art tools.  It was so easy!!

(with flash)

Do you like the drippy mani look?

Take a look at everyone else's sugary or spicy nails!

Stamping Sunday: Black and White

Base: OPI Funny Bunny, Stamp: RA-114, Finger Paints Black Expressionism

Hey guys!! So last week I missed my Stamping Sunday due to some long hours I put in at work, but I'm back with it again now.  Our challenge this week is to only use black and white.  I knew right away that I wanted to do one of the cool geometric patterns on my Red Angel plates.

(light box)

The plate I used was Red Angel RA-114.  For my base color I used OPI Funny Bunny.  (As you can tell this is my go-to white... I never thought when I bought it that it would get so much use from me, but I really love it.)  The black is Finger Paints Black Expressionism.

(flash)

After doing this challenge I feel I need to try to find a better black stamping polish... maybe I need to just pony up and get the black and white Konad polishes.  What do you all use for your black and white stamping polishes?

Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 6, Who Inspires You?

Hi everyone!!  Today is day 6 of the Girly-Girl Challenge, and our assignment is to do some nails in honor of a woman who inspires us.  I knew who I would choose right away... my Mom!!

My mom is such an amazing role model for me.  She is a strong woman and is always there for me when I need her.  She is also a great artist and I am inspired by her creativity.  She is good at so many things, for example, gardening, painting, and decorating.  I am so lucky to be able to go to her for advice when I need it.  Love you, Mom!

(light box)

I did today's nails in her favorite color, purple, and her favorite pattern, paisley.

(light box)

I used 2 coats of OPI Planks A Lot, then one coat of OPI Care to Danse to lighten up Planks A Lot a little bit.  Care to Danse is a light lavender jelly, so it is sheer enough to allow Planks A Lot to add more color to it.  I stamped with the paisley pattern from Konad plate M60.  I used Illamasqua Baptiste as my stamping polish.

Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 5, Gotta Love Chick Flicks!

Hellooooo!

I'm back... (and sorry for missing my Stamping Sunday post, I had a really busy week at work and just didn't end up having time to post.)  Today I have the next installment of the Girly-Girl Challenge, and we are taking inspiration from our favorite chick flicks!

For my movie I chose Chicago.  I just love this movie!

One of my favorite songs is the Cell Block Tango.  The photo below helped me come up with a design to do.

So here is what I came up with! I used OPI Malaga Wine, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, China Glaze Riveting, an LA Colors black striping polish, and Orly Instant Artist in Beige.

(light box)
(Please excuse the cat hair, I didn't see it until after I uploaded my photos!)

Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 4, Inspired by the Runway

OPI Roadhouse Blues, Essie Braziliant
(natural light)

Hi everyone!  Welcome back to the Girly-Girl Nail Art Challenge!!  Today is Day 4, which requires us all to draw inspiration from our favorite fashion trends.

I don't really follow fashion as closely as I probably should... I did some googling for this challenge of Fashion Week 2012.  I found a dress that inspired me from the Marc by Marc Jacobs show.

This trend is color blocking, and I used scotch tape to achieve my nail look.

(natural light)

I was actual quite in love with this mani... this is one of my favorites that I have ever done!  I think I will be trying to use other color blocking in fashion to inspire future nail designs.

I started off with 2 coats of Essie Braziliant, then did a coat of quick dry top coat.  Once they were dry enough to withstand taping I taped the off center square and did one coat of OPI Roadhouse Blues.

(direct sunlight)

(indoors, flash)

I hope you all love this as much as I did!!

Once again, don't forget to see what everyone else did:

Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 3, Delicate and Elegant

Base: OPI Funny Bunny, Stamp: Color Club Antiquated, RA-109
(light box)

Hello again lovelies!  Here are my nails for the third day of the challenge.  Today's theme is Delicate and Elegant.  (Adorn yourself with a lovely pattern, color, or technique.)  I knew I wanted a light base with a gold stamping for this... to me the jelly white of OPI Funny Bunny is definitely one of the most delicate polishes I own, and the gold of Color Club Antiquated is certainly elegant.

I was really happy with how this turned out!  The stamp I used was from my Red Angel set, plate RA-109.    It is a pattern of flowers and vines which is so pretty.  This is probably one of the most feminine manis I've done, which I suppose is appropriate for the Girly-Girl Challenge!!

As usual, please check out the other lovely ladies participating in this challenge with me, they have all been coming up with some really great nail designs!!

A New Weekly Feature: Stamping Sunday!

Base: China Glaze He's Going In Circles, Stamp: RA-108 with OPI You're A Pisa Work
(light box)

Hello All!!  So today I have what I hope to be a new weekly post, Stamping Sunday.  I saw this on a couple other blogs I follow, and they are members of a Facebook group called , which I joined last week.  In the group they do a poll and then have a weekly theme for everyone to follow.  I like this because it gets me to use stamps or colors that I may not normally choose!

This week's challenge is Circles.  I chose a design from my Red Angel plates, on RA-108.  My base color is China Glaze He's Going In Circles, which is a scattered holo. (You probably can't tell that from my photos... I did this at night, and we have also had a lot of rain here in Houston the past week, so no sunshine to take good photos of holo polishes.)  I stamped using OPI You're A Pisa Work, which is an awesome bright pink one-coater.  I was going for spring-y colors with the green and pink.

I hope you like it!! I want to get some more stamping plates, what are everyone's favorites?

Girly-Girl Challenge: Day 2, Gimme That Bling

China Glaze Some Like It Haute, Color Club Revvvolution, Color Club Worth the Risque

Hey guys!  Here is the second post for the Girly-Girl Challenge.  The theme is Gimme That Bling. (Diamonds are a girl's best friend, so put some sparkle on those nails!)  Unfortunately, I didn't have a very sunny day to help me capture this mani's true sparkly-ness!

I started with one coat of Color Club Revvvolution, a black holo, on each nail.  I then added one coat of China Glaze Some Like It Haute, a graphite and silver glitter with larger holo glitters scattered through it. Finally, I took the diamond part of this challenge literally and stamped two diamonds on my ring finger.  I used the pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM-09, and stamped with Color Club Worth the Risque.

Girly-Girl Nail Art Challenge: Day 1, Think Pink

Hi Guys!  I have decided to participate in a nail art challenge that was created by Lindsey from .  It is a 4 week challenge, with 2 theme days per week.  I will be trying to post on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as are most of the other participants, I believe.  Everyone is free to choose the days they post on though, so there may be some different ones.

Day one requires you to use pink polish.  I decided to use China Glaze Strawberry Fields, because it is a gorgeous color and I don't reach for it enough.  I did 3 coats of that, and topped with one coat of OPI I Lily Love You.  Then I mattified the whole thing, because who doesn't love matte flakie polishes!  I use Essie Matte About You as my matte top coat.

 (Indoors, Flash)

I tried to choose a "girly" stamp, and used one I hadn't done before.  I used Konad M57 for the leopard lace design.  I stamped using Finger Paints Black Expressionism.

(Indoors, Flash)

The last picture is from my light box which washed out the color a bit, the flash photos are more true to the color of Strawberry Fields.  Its a bit easier to see the flakes and the design on the light box photo though.
