The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochrome: Turquoise Stripes

Hey there guys!  Its the final day of DD's Monochromatic week today, which I'm a little sad about!  I had so much fun with this prompt.  I've saved one of my favorites for last...

I did these freehand vertical stripes with a medium length striping brush and a bunch of turquoise polishes.  I started off with a base which was two coats of Essie Greenport, and then added the stripes with China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint, China Glaze Aquadelic, and Ciaté Headliner.

This ended up being one of those manis which I didn't want to take off even though I had plans of doing a few more looks on my day off.

Let's go see how everyone else finished out the week, shall we?

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochrome: Neutral Tribal Print

Hi there, readers!  It's almost the end of DD's Monochromatic week, today is day 4.  I've gone neutral today with some sepia type tones.

The base of this mani is two coats of Zoya Normandi from their most recent collection, Naturel, which you can see swatches of here.  Once that was dry I stamped over it using MoYou Artist Collection 11 plate, and Mundo de Uñas stamping polish in Papyrus.

I am loving these MdU stamping polishes, they work awesome and they are pretty cheap, but if you are thinking of getting them please be aware that they have a very strong chemical odor.  I'm not sensitive to smell, but these give me a headache.  After I've used them my husband almost always asks me what the smell in the living room is.  Now to me, they work so well that I'm willing to overlook that, but I thought I should inform you because it may be a deal breaker for some people.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochrome: Purple

Hi guys!!  Here we are on day 3 of DD week, and I've done a purple mani.  Of course I couldn't let this week pass without doing a purple one!

For this nail art I did a gradient of 4 polishes, China Glaze Sweet Hook, Spontaneous, Grape Pop, and Crimson.  These actually all came in a set together specifically for making gradients, which is pretty cool.  The colors work so perfectly together.  This is the second time I've used them for a gradient.

After doing the gradient I top coated and then stamped with Zoya Suri and Bundle Monster plate BM-410.  I'm not really sure what this pattern is supposed to be, but it reminds me a little of feathers.

Now don't forget to check on the other member's manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochrome: Blue Ruffles

Hi there!  Welcome back to Digit-al Dozen Monochromatic week.  Today I'm posting a mani I had in the vault (as The Crumpet would say) from several months ago. (See the lovely sunlight photos, and some green grass peeking out from behind my hand? I miss summer!)

Last February I did my very first ruffle mani, which was also for a DD challenge, and I just loved how it turned out.  Who the heck knows why I haven't done one since, even though I said I was going to.  So I did this blue ruffle mani and then never posted it, but I figured this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Now, the really unfortunate problem with using really old manis from the vault?  I sure can't recall what blue polishes I used for this.  Sorry about that!

Now for real this time... I simply must do another ruffle mani soon.

Check out what the other girls are up to today!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochrome: Pink Skittlette

Hello out there!  Today we are kicking off a new Digit-al Dozen theme week, and this month our theme is Monochrome.  So this week you will see everyone featuring manis which all incorporate different shades of one color.

I chose to start off with this pink one, because here in Sweden its dark and cold and a nice bright mani is a great way to shake that off a little.  The details of what I used are as follows:
  • Thumb: 2 coats Zoya Kimber stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-404 and Mundo de Uñas Mexican Pink stamping polish
  • Index/Middle: 1 coat Nails Inc Power Pink water marbled with Orly Preamp and Nordic Cap of Sweden neon pink (the Nordic Cap polishes don't have names unfortunately)
  • Ring: 1 coat Orly Preamp, 2 coats IsaDora Star Struck, stamped with BM-404 and MdU Mexican Pink
  • Pinky: 2 coats Kiko 452 Watermelon

Don't forget to see what the rest of the lovely DD members have come up with this week!

Superficially Colorful Lacquers Swatch Spam

Hello lovelies!  Today I have some very special polishes to show you.  You may remember me posting about an awesome thermal polish called Fascinated, which I got from my friend Jin, who blogs at Superficially Colorful.  Over the summer I received several more bottles of Superficially Colorful Lacquer from Jin, and I just love all of them.  This post is going to be pretty pic heavy, but I promise its worth looking through them!

The polishes I've gotten from Jin this summer are called Enthralled, Daring, Impulsive, Meditative, and Provocative.  They all dry matte naturally, but look amazing with top coat as well.

For each polish I'm going to show you 4 photos.  The order will be the same for each, warm and cold without top coat, and then warm and cold with top coat.  All polishes are shown with two coats.

Enthralled is a red to brown thermal polish with a beautiful golden shimmer.  It turns red when its warm and brown when its cold.  I'm just in love with the color it is when its cold, the brown is so rich and the gold shimmer is amazing.

Daring is a yellow to orange thermal polish with a glass fleck finish.  It turns bright yellow when it is warm and orange when it is cold.  When it is orange you can see a slight flash of pink in the glass fleck.

Impulsive is a lime green to grass green thermal polish with gold shimmer.  It turns a bright lime green when its warm and a deeper green when its cold.  Its really hard for me to pick favorites because I love all these polishes, but this is one of my top loves.

Meditative is a green to teal thermal polish with a green shimmer.  It turns a light olive green when it is warm and a deep teal blue when it is cold.  I don't know why but this one makes me think of dragons, like the color green is the perfect dragon skin green.

Provocative is a light purple to dark purple thermal polish with a purple shimmer.  It turns a lighter purple when it is warm and a deep, dark purple when it is cold.  The shimmer has flashes of blue and pink, and I thought I even saw some green sparks in there occasionally.  Of course this is another of my top picks, because, well, purple!

As of the time of posting Jin is not yet producing these for sale, but maybe if we bug her for long enough she will give in! ;)  I know I would buy every color she puts out!

Which ones are your favorites?

What I Wore For New Year's Eve

Hi dears!  Just thought I would pop in a share my NYE mani with you all.

I wore two coats of Kiko Sugar Mat 646 Starry Black.  My index, middle, and pinky have been topped with one coat of Lynnderella Diamond Light.  (Diamond Light is soooo sparkly!)  On my accent nails I stamped with some patterns from the Bundle Monster Holiday set, plate BM-H14, and CND Gold Chrome.

Since I did silver holo glitter eye makeup I figured this would go along with that pretty well.

What did you wear on your nails to ring in the New Year?
