A strange dusty hunting find...

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share with you something I discovered at a dusty nail supply store in Chinatown this week. It is a different version of China Glaze Atlantis! This was mixed in with the version I had seen before, and actually, I own the normal version. So here are some comparison photos.

The regular version is the more green one with small silver holo glitter. The new one is more blue and the glitter is larger and also blue.

I am wondering if it is possible that this could be a fake, but I have never heard of anyone finding fake China Glaze. The whole thing is so strange. I also wondered if this was mislabeled but I couldn't find any other China Glaze glitter that looked like it.

Has anyone else seen this polish before??

Giveaway winner!

Hello everyone!  Sorry I haven't updated in a few days... things have been busy due to the holiday, I'm sure the same is true for everyone!  Santa brought me a few nail polishes, as well as a new plexi glass wall mount rack, which I was definitely in need of.  I hope you all got what you were wishing for, spent some time with people you love, and ate some delicious food.

My giveaway ended last week, and I never properly announced the winner, so I just wanted to take a moment to do that.  The winner of the Nail Prisms was Pryanka!  This was her first giveaway win, and I'm sure she will take very good care of her new pretties. ;)

Congratulations, Pryanka!

I think I will be doing my next giveaway when I hit 100 followers, so keep an eye out for that!  Only 24 to get there...

Snowy Christmas Trees

Hi everyone!  Today I have another holiday manicure for you!  This was one of my favorites so far.  I was inspired by this mani from Stacy over at Wickless & Polished.

I used OPI I Juggle... Men as my base color.  The white is OPI Funny Bunny, silver snow accents are China Glaze Icicle, tree is China Glaze Holly-day.  I added the red ornaments on my trees with  Orly Star Spangled, and the tree topper with CND Gold Chrome.  I did most of the detail work with my dotting tools.  I really need to invest in a small brush and some acrylic paints to make nail art easier for myself.

This made me feel really festive and happy!  I hope you all like this as much as I did. :)

Candy Canes

OPI Funny Bunny, Sally Hansen Nail Prisms South Sea Pearl, Orly Star Spangled

Hi everyone!  Today I have some Candy Cane nails for you.  My base was OPI Funny Bunny, then a layer of Sally Hansen Nail Prisms South Sea Pearl.  SSP has a duochrome of green to pink, but that didn't show up in my photos.  With a striping brush I added the Orly Star Spangled.  I still have a hard time making steady lines with a striping brush, I need to practice more!  If anyone who is good at nail art with brushes has any tips for me, I'd love to hear them!!

Snowy White

OPI Funny Bunny, China Glaze Snow Globe

Hi guys!  I didn't have too much time to work with when I did my nails this time since we have extended holiday hours at the salon right now.  I decided to do some layering and keep it simple.  I got OPI Funny Bunny a couple weeks ago, so I used that as my base color.  It is a soft white jelly, and I actually wanted Essie Marshmallow but couldn't find it, so I got this instead.  I haven't seen a comparison but it seems like they may be dupes.  I was originally going to do a jelly sandwich*.  I did 2 coats of Funny Bunny, one coat of a random iridescent glitter, another coat of FB, then 2 coats of China Glaze Snow Globe.  At this point I just couldn't bring myself to cover up the gorgeous sparkles of Snow Globe so I just stopped!  I'm a serious sucker for glitter!

I had a difficult time getting pictures of the different colors of glitter in Snow Globe.  I feel like this mani was sooo much prettier in real life!  Also, even though it was glittery, this mani was a nice palette cleanser after all my red and green and gold ones.  Hope you like it!

What are you favorite layering colors?

*This is where you do a base color, then glitter, then a thin layer of the jelly polish over the glitter, for anyone who may not have heard of a jelly sandwich.  The jelly polishes are sheer, so the glitter still shows, but it is muted and looks suspended in the base.

Christmas Glitter Stripey Tape Mani

China Glaze Ring in the Red, China Glaze Holly-Day

Hi guys!  Here is my next design with China Glaze Ring in the Red and Holly-Day.  I think RitR is one of my favorite holiday polishes so far, I don't want to take it off!  For these I did another tape design, this is one that I saw done by Jane over at Nailside. On my thumb I started doing her Laser design but wasn't loving it, so I did the Mummy one on the rest of my nails.  I found it tricky to cut the strips of tape thin enough.  At first I thought I had cut them thin and when I tried to do a design they were still way too wide!  I guess I need more practice at that.  Anyway, I think this looks really festive and I like the contrast between the glitter and the creme.  I hope you aren't getting sick of my holiday manicures yet! :)

Gift Wrapped Nails

China Glaze Ring in the Red, Color Club Gingerbread Man

Hi guys!  I wore this mani on Sunday for our work holiday party.  I had to do something somewhat simple because I worked late on Saturday night and then it was back to work again Sunday before the party so there was not much time for me to spend on my nails.  I am loving China Glaze Ring in the Red.  I loved it so much I'm still wearing it as my base for another mani I will be posting tomorrow! :)  I free-handed on the ribbon detail with a striping brush and one of my dotting tools with Color Club Gingerbread Man.  I had a few clients at the salon asking me if they were a sticker, so I guess I did ok!

Holiday Patchwork

Red: Zoya Isla; Green: Zoya Ivanka; Glitter: China Glaze Twinkle Lights

Hi guys!  I've got a tape mani for you today!  Part of the reason I started wanting to do more nail art was from being inspired by the blog Chloe's Nails.  I thought her scotch tape manicures were so cool looking, and they seemed like something easy enough to accomplish.  She has lots of great tutorials on her blog, so check it out for ideas!

For these I used Zoya Isla, Zoya Ivanka, and China Glaze Twinkle Lights.  They are so festive and I think all the colors worked really well together.  Mr. Sparkles said my nails look like presents. :)

I found this ornament in a Christmas shop in PA when I was visiting my mom in October... Isn't it adorable?!  It is definitely one of my favorite ornaments now.

Silver and Blue Mixed Patterns

 China Glaze Blue Year's Eve
China Glaze Icicle
(Indoors, Overcast natural light)

Hi Everyone!  Today's nails are some fun mixed patterns using my dotting tools and a striping brush.  This was my first time using the striping brush, and I was quite happy with how it turned out.  On my thumb and ring finger I used China Glaze Icicle as the base, and on the rest I used China Glaze Blue Year's Eve.  The accents are the same 2 polishes.

LEGO Party Nails!!

Hi guys!  Today I have some really fun nail art for you.  Mr. Sparkles loves LEGOs and his birthday was on Monday.  Tonight we are having a birthday/graduation (Mr. Sparkles also now has his Master's degree in Physics, I am so proud of him!) party for him at the apartment that is LEGO themed.  So of course I needed some LEGO nails.

I only found a couple other people who have done LEGO nails online... I took my inspiration from this post on The Daily Nail.  I think she did hers with a nail art brush, which I attempted and quickly decided I need to practice more.  I switched to my dotting tools, and that worked out well for me.  The colors I used in this mani were:  NYC Big Apple Red, NYC Times Square Tangerine, Finger Paints Papier Mache, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, OPI Roadhouse Blues, China Glaze Towel Boy Toy, Orly Lucky Duck, and Zoya Pippa.  I did some mixing for the shadowing/highlighting.  Overall, I think this turned out pretty cute, and awesomely nerdy!

What is the most creative theme mani you have done??

Peppermint nails!

Base Color: NYC Big Apple Red Creme
Stamp Color: Finger Paints Papier Mache
Plate: Red Angel 110
(Artificial light, no flash)

Hello everyone!  I've got another holiday themed nail design for you today.  This is also my first half-moon mani.  The stamping plate that I used actually incorporates the half-moon with a few patterns, though I wonder if they are meant to be used for longer french tip designs?  Anyway, I am really happy with how these look.  I intended for them to look like peppermint candies, and I certainly think they do!

This was my first time trying out my new Red Angel plates.  I like them so far!  They don't cover my whole thumb nail with one stamp, but I didn't have problems with any other nails coverage wise.  The full nail designs are bigger than the set of Bundle Monster plates I have, so that will make my life a bit easier.  I'm excited to show you guys more of the cool designs these have!  You can find them on Amazon, , and they are a bargain at $11.99 for 21 plates.

What reminds you of the holidays?  Any colors or patterns you guys would like to see?
