The Digit-al Dozen Does: work / play / polish

Hi guys!!  So today I have a slightly different Digit-al Dozen post for you.  Some of you may already be aware if you read her blog, but one of our amazing members, Leslie of work / play / polish, is leaving the DD group.  We are all very sad to see her go, as she is a lovely person and a talented nail artist.

We decided to put together this link up as a bit of a send-off for her.  So here is my recreation of one of Leslie's gorgeous DD manis!

Above is Leslie's original mani, which she created for our Digit-al Dozen Does It All AGAIN feature.  This was for the tape mani day, and she used some pretty jewel tone polishes from Pure Ice to create the look.  Find out the exact color info at her original post.

I didn't have those exact polishes, but I had some similar jewel tone ones.  What you see here is two coats of Gina Tricot Alexis as the base, which was then randomly taped off with striping tape, and then painted over in patches.  For the patches I used Zoya Suri, China Glaze Tongue & Chic, and China Glaze Scandalous Shenanigans.

Anyone who knows me will know that I despise tape manis, especially those done with striping tape.  The always look so awesome when they are done, but the tape is just too fiddly for me.  I also have to admit that I have a bit of hyperhidrosis in my hands and feet, so the tape often doesn't stick the way it should due to that.  I think that actually has quite a bit to do with why tape is so frustrating for me.

Anyway, this time I got the tape to work, and I am so satisfied with how this turned out!

(with flash)

So there you have it.  I hope I've done Leslie proud with this mani.  We sure will miss you participating in DD weeks with us!  You'll always be a member in our hearts though, and I hope you get to jump in with a mani every once in a while. :)

Some of the other members have also done tribute posts, which you can check out below.  There is also going to be a good-bye Leslie post on the official Digit-al Dozen blog.
