Digital Dozen Does Animal Week: Sharks!

Hi guys!!  Its time for another Digit-al Dozen challenge week again, and this week our theme is animals.  Its a quite general theme, which is nice because I think we will see lots of variety from the members!

I'm kicking off the week with my favorite animal, a shark!  When I was 9 I saw the movie Jaws for the first time, and ever since then I have been obsessed with sharks.  One of my favorite things to do when I was younger was go to the public library and check out every book I could find about them.  Of course I love Shark Week, and I have a particular fascination with shark attack books and shows.  Maybe its a bit morbid, but I am just intrigued by them.

The base for this mani is two coats of Essie Shelter Island.  Everything else was done with acrylic paints and a small nail art brush.

I also mattified this mani, but I'm not sure which way I preferred it.  I think the bloody water nails look better shiny at least.  For those nails I actually accidentally discovered a new technique... I thinned the red paint out with some water, and quickly swiped my brush back and forth over the nail, and it sort of beaded up and gave a really cool effect.  I've got some plans to try this again with some different colors.

It's so beautiful and painterly. The shark tooth is my fave. So creative and so realistic. If I tried that...it would look like a tortilla chip. LOL

I used your shark as inspiration for my Shark Week nail art... although mine looks like it was drawn by a kid, lol!
