The Digit-al Dozen Does Metal: Patinaed Copper

Hi there guys! Its Digit-al Dozen week again, and I'm finally trying to get back on the horse with my blogging. This month our theme is Metal. As always our themes are to be interpreted however we like.

This first mani that I did is meant to look like patinaed copper. In these photos I think my base color ended up looking more gold than it did in real life, but oh well.

I used a base of two coats of CND Copper Chrome for this nail art, and then I top coated that and did a saran wrap mani using Essie Greenport and Kiko Nr. 343 over the copper. To get the distressed metal effect I used a fluffy paint brush dipped in acetone to expose the copper base. This was one of those manis which looked really awesome but didn't take much precision.

As usual, my DD co-members have come up with some of their own amazing interpretations of metal for today. Let's check out what they've done!

  5. I think this looks really cool! It reminds me of one of those old fountains you'll see outside where the metal has oxidized and ends up looking just like your nails. :)
