The Digit-al Dozen Does Love & Heartbreak - Love Splatter Nails

Hello darlings!  Well, here I am to wrap up my first Digit-al Dozen week.  I've saved one of my favorites for last... and it is a bit less romantic than the others.  I found online when I was searching for inspiration, and decided it would translate really well into nail art.

I started off with two coats of MASH Nail Art Polish in White.  For my splatter I used two colors, OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, and Zoya Sooki.  Do you ever have a color that you've had for ages and loved, but it gets sort of lost in your collection?  RRR is one of those for me!  I used to wear this all the time, and I sort of forgot about it for a while, but jeez this color is gorgeous!

I tried another technique for this splatter... I think my straws that I used last time were too small, so I used an old pen, like Jacki from Adventures in Acetone has recommended to me before.  It worked quite a bit better but still had a bit of a learning curve.  I was actually trying to get some big splats of polish in the center so that the letters would stand out when I went back over them in white.  I think part of the reason this turned out so well was that I used Sooki, which is a jelly.  I think she added a lot of depth, because she didn't completely cover RRR, just combined with it to make a third color.  (Mental note: do more splatters with jelly polishes!)

Once my splatter was done I added top coat, and then freehand painted the letters and the heart over top with my MASH polish and a small nail art brush.

So I hope you have all enjoyed this installment of Digital Dozen nail art... I have really pushed myself to keep up with the other amazing artists who participate, and I love that.  Start getting excited for March's theme, which is going to be super fun!

Let's have a look at everyone else's final designs!
