The American band The Walkmen emerged from the remains of the cult group Jonathan Fire * Eater. The five members grew up in Washington DC, but all now live in New York. The music on their debut album Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone sounds like a modern, better produced version of the new wave music from the seventies/eighty (Joy Division, The Cure, Talking Heads). In addition you can hear influences from U2 (the guitarist sometimes seems very on The Edge) and the legendary Pixies (especially in terms of song structure). In addition, sounds the singer alternately as Black Francis (Frank Black) and Bono of these two latest bands. The Walkmen fits with their warm-blooded, passionate and sometimes incomprehensible music perfectly in the list of ' new wave revival bands like Interpol, Radio 4 and The Faint. For some listeners it might be up, but Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone is a real growth diamond mine gets a bonus point because of the beautiful cover photo!
