Da Bomb is the second studio album by the hip-hop duo Kris Kross, released a year after their first album Totally Krossed Out. The group tried a hardcore/gangsta look to fit with the new style of hip-hop.
Исполнитель: Kris Kross. 1993 иностранный рэп и хип-хоп. it like this Some funk for your trunk by this nigga named Kris See, I ain’t into the game I’m true to the gang I’m poppin' your thang till the party people swing Cause I’m a little rough neck Tiffy-tiffy tough neck Causin' what gettin' 'nough respect And all those little punks talkin' junk bring it on Cause.
With as much exposure as Kris Kross got, it was perhaps inevitable that the backlash would be quick in coming. With a heavily preteen audience, it was also inevitable that their fans would have moved on by the time they issued a follow-up, even if that follow-up came only a year later. Perhaps it wasn't inevitable, but that's the way it worked out for Da Bomb. The MCs' voices have already changed, but not enough to really reinvent them for a more mature audience or give them street appeal. Whatever the ultimate reason, Da Bomb failed to duplicate the pop phenomenon of Totally Krossed Out. Although ten years on, you have to wonder how the album would have done if they'd had the patronage of a gangsta rapper and a budding movie career.

On Da Bomb, rappers as well as soulsters and funksters get liberally sampled. The album’s lead single, Alright, borrows its beat from Slave’s Just a Touch of Love, but its theme seems to be taken from Ice Cube‘s It Was a Good Day. Flowing with smooth locomotion, the twin lead rappers check the climate. But it’s the ’90s, so Kris Kross give a few nods to New Jack gangstaism. They talk about servin’ all those fools in the nine-trey and takin’ punks out. They sound threatening, even though their chat is strictly PG. On I’m Real, they bounce lines like All dat stuff dat ya pop needs to stop over a thumping, quivering beat; in 2 Da Beat Ch’Yall, a loopy swinger, they’re waiting for that alphabet crew to make my day. But Kris Kross don’t just offer visions of annihilation. In A Lot 2 Live 4, they offer hope to all their fans, a future with lots of promise.
