Grand Funk (commonly known as The Red Album) is the second studio album by American rock band Grand Funk Railroad. It was produced by Terry Knight and engineered by Ken Hamann. The album was certified gold by the RIAA, the first for the group. It includes a cover of The Animals' "Inside Looking Out" which is still a cornerstone of the band's live concerts today.

From their 9th album, All the Girls in the World Beware!!! Grand Funk’s story about why they picked up the song (from here). We all grew up in Flint, Michigan. We’d kind of shear off on the choruses and stuff, and our manager said, ‘That’s a great song, why don’t you record it,’ so we recorded the song and it became a huge hit. "Some Kind of Wonderful" Track Info. Written By John Ellison. Bass Guitar Mel Schacher. Release Date December 1, 1974. Cover Of. Some Kind of Wonderful by Soul Brothers Six. Some of what’s on the list are definite eye-openers that may not make a lick of sense. I won’t even disagree with those of you who get utterly confused by what you’ll see. But hey, there are a ton of you out there who have these albums taking up space in your collections, meaning even the faintest trace of funkified air exists in your bones, and it’s time to examine what makes you your ugly-bumpin’ selves. So I understand why this is the most collected funk album - it’s fairly recent, hugely popular, and it is quite a good album. I’ve always enjoyed watching Daft Punk rise from the underground since their Soma days, and eventually become one of the most unique groups to ever grace our planet. They’ve never compromised their attitude or sound, and have clawed their way to the top doing exactly what they’ve always done: producing top-of-the-line house music with heavy influences from disco and funk.
The songs on Some Kind of Poetic Destruction suffer the tendency of biting off more than they can properly chew; the ideas are self-contained and don’t seem to relate to the rest of a song. Choruses and verse structures can be picked out, to be sure, but I’m hard pressed to find a song here that sounds like the ideas therein were arranged to really compliment one another. By prog standards, that might sound like a listener’s dream come true; after all, the attitude of an ambitious composer transposed onto rock music has often had the effect of working against conventional structures. Factory of Dreams‘ music can be wildly interesting, but Some Kind of Poetic Destruction has significantly fewer inspiring passages than I was hoping for from the band. The crazy, over-the-top cosmic madness has been downplayed to a more comfortable level, sure, but what does the album do to really fill the gap?
Noise rock is about as difficult to define as it is for some people to listen to. Sure, you could say that it is noisy and it also rocks but those two fundamental factors also apply to AC/DC, who are hardly a noise-rock outfit. Noise rock is weirder than standard hard rock or the louder end of indie music but it doesn’t stray into identifiable heavy metal territory. Some people think Bitch Magnet is a brilliant name but personally I think it’s one of the all-time worst band names in the history of alternative music. Still, they were an undeniably great band who evolved beautifully from post-hardcore riff-churners to more delicate post-rock pioneers in four short years. What’s the best album to own by this unruly bunch of Minneapolis degenerates? Well, it was a toss-up between this one and Cows’ previous LP, the equally stoopidly-named Cunning Stunts.
