I could not have thought of a better way to present this album. The first thing about it that I noticed was the beautiful artwork, featuring stunningly clear and bright photographs for an act as dark and strange as this one. The glossy texture of the jacket is very pleasing to feel and succeeds in making the cover look even brighter as it reflects the light around it. The design adds to this an ironic and slightly self-aware juxtaposition of an embossed Totenkopf, nearly invisible over the white, snowy background. The atmospheric contrast goes even further when the music is considered, which sounds bleak and melancholy even for Death In June. As for the record itself, the 10" size effectively compliments the nature of the artwork, optimizing the perceived clarity of the photos while also giving the records a denser feel. The picture discs are, in my opinion, essential to the full appreciation of the artwork, as even the music itself is a snowy white. The pictures do seem to add to the noise significantly, but the noise isn't too noticeable over the dense production of the music. The omition of Maverick Chamber is quite unfortunate, though it isn't a very essential track to the album and it is nice to end the track listing with one of the most lively and memorable songs from the Snow Bunker, Neutralize Decay.

The embodiment of capitalist "art". The remake. The limited edition. This is the poorest work of Neofolk I've seen in years, comatose and senile, boring, repetitive, sloth music and more than ever clitchéd till the point of drowsiness. I love to see the fan base clucking like an hysteric henhouse for defending the qualities and "beauty" of this work. They all are now indiferentiated from any pop fanbase, apologizing everything their "sensei" does, from remarkably stupid opinions who no one should give two fucks about or for justifying the horrible and insipid music that is now his trademark. How furious they get with the critics against the music from his master, they all bow in mindless obedience and adoration towards him ready to throw in the pyre of their inane tongues everything that dares to disagree with their fanatic devotion.Alas, these anti-modernist wannabes, these all time supermarket romantics.

In the marketplace it used to be in that unless a release was extremely limited (like 100 copies) that you could buy the vinyl release at a normal price. The DIJ releases of late are already at out of print prices before it's even out of print, which has really put me off buying, and I'm a buyer. For example I have TEN copies of the Burial LP all on different colors. Clearly the new pricing scheme is in place so Doug can make as much of a profit as possible. Maybe he has bills to pay and has no other source of income that can support him. If the pricing is in place for day to day survival I can't begrudge that. As a result I will now have another hole in my DIJ collection because I just don't see the value of buying at these prices. Clearly others do or we wouldn't see these priced this way. This is disappointing for me but I will live.

Agreed, but I can think of worse things. This is directly from the Soleilmoon site, and I hope they don't mind it here, too: ‘The Snow Bunker Tapes’ are the original guitar/Totenpop versions of the thirteen songs that became the ‘Peaceful Snow’ album. ‘The Snow Bunker Tapes’ were recorded between December 2009 and July 2010 at Big Sound Studios, Adelaide, Australia, and are the original recordings that were given to Miro Snejdr to transcribe onto his piano. They eventually became the ‘Peaceful Snow’ album, which was released on 9 November, 2010. Although these songs were recorded in a studio setting, no track is as sonically “built” as most Death In June songs are. There are no samples, multi-tracked vocals, effects or even percussion, and studio editing has been kept to a minimum so you can hear talking between some tracks. Douglas P, in describing the material, said “To paraphrase one of Alan McGee’s favourite lines, ‘It’s pure (Toten) pop!’” The CD is packaged in a deluxe glossy embossed gatefold cover.

why the [email protected] would anybody want to aquire a re-issue of a worthless piece of music just because its been played on the guitar?plus the initial price tag of near 40$ for the vinyl edition?pathetic.

That's just silly.

Do you know why? It´s pretty simple. It´s because they are fans and fans are creatures who lost any objectivity and good sense.
Blackstalker
Well, that's true. I listened to it last night as I fell asleep.
Nilador
Buying music and listening to it,are two different things entirely.

A collector might get all four versions in duplicate. One man's trash another man's treasure..
